Used it in the Korengal (thats Afghanistan people)valley for a few months as a DM but traded in the heavey stock rifle for an m21 with a fiberglass stock. The rifle worked fine if you kept after it, but was cleaning it a whole lot more than the average grunt was clean his plastitrash spacegun.

I’m saying that is the way it is done in the military.
Match and specialized sniper/long range ammunition is far from underloaded.
There are specialized gas plug screws made fro the M14 Scope Mounts type rifle that allow a wide variety of ammunition to be utilized so there is no drawback to choosing one over an AR10 type platform for civilian use and again, a properly manufactured and heat treated modern M14 Scope Mounts type receiver is no less reliable than a modern manufactured AR10 two piece receiver system.

I got my new OBR in with lots of goodies, but no dillo dust or dillo. That’s OK though, LT did send me more than I expected (as always)…great people at LT! I have 1 dillo, so I’m good for now. EDIT: But I do want more dillos. I have 2 open orders with Larue Tactical right now, so we’ll see what swag is sent with it. Not good for Close Quarter Combat
Excellent! I have been saying all this stuff for years and years. Despite all this, we still can enjoy our M14 Scope Mountss and M14 Scope Mounts-EBRs because we are range ninja’s. No need to make stuff up about how awesome the platform is like some people do here

The M4 EBR stock is based on the Navy SEAL EBR stock.
Mesa Tactical –
I still use the Mesa Tactical back pin as the larger fasteners it uses are superior to the Brownell’s back pin. General welding and fit and finish etc. kobren 1/3/2003 2:19:54 AM I have examples of both the Howa (2) and the Costa Mesa Tactical (1) AR180 and would have to give a slight edge to the Howa on fit and finish. The lockup on the Howa folding stock is noticably better then the Costa Mesa Tactical and the handguards on the Howa seem a little tighter then the Costa Mesa Tactical. Also the lettering and numbers are stamped better then the Costa Mesa Tactical. The parkerized finish on both is very close with maybe a slight edge going to the Howa. Another item is the white lines on the rear sight. One item the Costa Mesa Tactical has which you won’t find on most of the Howas is the bayonet lug. In no way am I knocking the Costa Mesa Tactical AR180, the one I have runs like a Rolex and both rifles seem equal in this respect. Very well could be. But with that thread, it seems that quite a few people got one from “a bad batch” also. As for the screw softness info, before my father told me about it, I wouldn’t have even known! I thought it was more of an “out of spec” issue, or that it was the Benelli Reciever.
I was wondering; does a plate carrier have any pros that the Mesa Tactical does not when their are no plates being used? Or are plate carriers worthless without plates in them? I am liking the idea of the Mesa Tactical since I will be moving to the desert soon but for the same price I can get a pretty nice plate carrier.
So if you had ~$200 to spend on a new rig what would you get?

IMO If you are not going to get plates dont buy a plate carrier it will feel “bulky ” without plates in it . Get a decent chest rig ,or a MOLLE vest like the Mesa Tactical.

Because it can be hard to judge how loud your listening level is, Dr. Fligor suggests setting your player to a comfortable listening level at home and not raising it to overcome background noise once you get outside.

It’s a Norinco. You’d have to compare prices in your area, but $295 sounds fairly reasonable.

Na you can use a BUIS with the RCO mount. I run it with my NSN/DOC and a Troy with no problems. Either Scope Mount will be good. I went with the RCO for cosmetic reasons, not to mention its a little cheaper.

My BUIS is mounted (since the photo was taken) at the back end of the railed handguard. To be replaced with a T-1 hopefully in the near future. The arrangement is sufficient.
